As part of the RFU’s expansion and modernisation, an updated interior fit out was required to bring in line with present day health and safety regulations.

CASE OVERVIEW

Known simply as ‘Headquarters’, Twickenham Stadium is the iconic home to the England national Rugby Union team.

As part of the RFU’s continuing expansion and modernisation of the stadium’s North, South, East and West stands, as well as associated hospitality areas, an updated interior fit out was required to bring the communal areas in line with present day health and safety regulations, whilst matching the RFU’s wish list for quality, energy efficient, high performance emergency lighting.

On match days, the stadium houses some 83,000 supporters, so the implementation of a fully compliant emergency lighting scheme was paramount.

SOLUTION

Mackwell worked closely with lighting OEMs; Dextra Lighting, Wila Lighting and Mode Lighting to help deliver a discrete and effective emergency lighting scheme, both in high risk task, and hospitality areas, using ELEDD MIDI control gears and the XYLUX luminaire portfolio.

In partnership with Mode Lighting, Mackwell’s N-Light test and monitoring system was specified to provide central monitoring of the emergency lighting system, resulting in dramatically reduced maintenance costs, whilst meeting all associated legislation and industry standard requirements.

SmartCharge included inthe NiMH batteries which provides energy efficient charging maintenance, reduced operating temperatures and optimum service life of NiMH batteries
