Area Sales Manager


In this role you will expand and manage an assigned customer base and ensure they are reaching the set sales and margin targets.

Job Functions:

  • To ensure that sales and margin from the accounts for which you are responsible, are in line with the agreed budget.
  • Drive growth by acquiring new customers and by developing the existing customer base (increase share/improve mix) and acquiring new prospects in the assigned territory.
  • To ensure that all pricing is in line with company pricelist guidelines and that special price arrangements are agreed with a Director of the Company.
  • Be responsible for turnover and relationship with assigned clients.
  • Visit customers and promote existing/new products, providing technical support and instructions.  
  • Planning the call and visit pattern to make the most effective use of time.
  • Gather product and market information; prepare market analysis (based on customers, prices, product portfolio); support Product Manager and R&D for new product opportunities.
  • Keeping accurate customer records.
  • Assisting at Exhibitions.
  • Providing sales forecasts on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that you comply with the Company’s work practice, disciplinary procedures and Health and Safety policy.
  • To recognise and be pro-active within our IIP standard.
  • Carry out any other task that may be reasonably required to assist in the efficient and profitable operation of the Company.


Required Profile

  • Solid Experience in a commercial role targeted at lighting OEMs in the UK
  • Solid technical knowledge of lighting and/or lighting components products
  • Solid knowledge about Emergency Lighting is preferred but not necessary
  • Sound judgement and good business sense
  • Organisational skills
  • Team-working capability and commitment quality
  • The ability to build relationships quickly and effectively
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to think outside the box and define and explore solutions for upcoming requests from customers
  • Independent and self-reliance
